https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/mate-bluetooth/ seems unmaintained. Maybe you can update it to use gvfs instead.
mate-bluetooth from the unofficial [mate] repo also depends on gvfs-obexftp but gvfs-obexftp is also unmaintained https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/gvfs-obexftp-lite/
Try recompiling mate-bluetooth or ask the mate folks what to do.

gvfs-obexftp was just removed from official repo, no idea why (I used that with thunar/xfce4…)
EDIT:
Drop obexftp backend, not ported to bluez5, so not usable anymore since gnome-bluetooth was ported to Bluez5.
Well i disagree… gnome-bluetooth isn't a requirement for using gvfs outside gnome -.-
EDIT2: And what a surprise - it compiled just fine! (against bluez4 ofc) :<

Perform a full system upgrade now. The package mate-bluetooth has been updated to no longer depend on gvfs-obexftp. If upgrade is successful, mark this tread as solved.

Are you sure that this is fixed? I tried to update from http://repo.mate-desktop.org/archlinux/ but I still get the error. Also https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/mate-bluetooth/ in AUR still depends on gvfs-obexftp.

@jsnlry if You don't resolve this in 3 days, poke me to create AUR package for gvfs-obexftp¹
¹what will actually recompile whole gvfs and package only obexftp part :<

Ok. I currently don't need bluetooth, so I just ignored the mate-bluetooth package, so that I am able to update my system.
I also saw, that gvfs-obexftp has been replaced with gvfs.
@dabholkarsa what did you mean with
> The package mate-bluetooth has been updated to no longer depend on gvfs-obexftp.
??? Which mate-bluetooth package in which repo?
Offline
It isn't replaced, this is just faulty/misguiding entry in gvfs's PKGBUILD

The problem is with mate-bluetooth which depends on bluez4 not bluez and with mate-user-share which depends on gvfs-obexftp.
Removing those two mate packages makes system able to update but there is no way to install those two packages again.
I hope someone can check and fix this.
I'd be really grateful.

After some googling I found fedora wiki with such quote:
MATE team:
mate-bluetooth has not received much upstream attention recently and is likely to not get ported to BlueZ 5 in time for F20. However, the Fedora MATE maintainers are looking into switching back to using gnome-bluetooth, and creating a panel applet for MATE that uses gnome-bluetooth underneath. An initial prototype is available at https://github.com/NiceandGently/bluetooth-panel-applet

Sigh…
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/gvfs-obexftp-bluez4/
As said before and in its comment - it recompiles whole gvfs and packages&&installs only tiny gvfs-obexftp module.
Feel free to hate && vote

Thanks a lot swiftgeek!
As I can see elsewhere problem with bluez5 is much bigger and affects more than just mate.
Why it was pulled into core repo although it makes bluetooth file sending impossible?
Offline
Bluez5 isn't the problem but (near-)end implementations in DEs (eg. Blueman is dead and i don't see anywhere any real alternative to it). So if somebody is using something beyond current Gnome or KDE … well we are stuck with orphaned, unsupported software quality of few months old pizza
It would be nice to revive blueman project though … eg. on github (IMO the best place for uncoordinated development)

They make great frisbees, assuming they're not partially eaten.
I don't think discussing it on Arch forums will change anything, you have to go somewhere upstream or fix stuff yourself, as swiftgeek suggested.

Again, there is no upstream to those projects anymore :]
I'm proposing blueman for revival on github because IMHO it was the best DE-neutral end-user software
Nobody alone has time for such revival (python2→3, gtk2 →3 or completely toolkit-neutral, bluez4→5, and few new extensions - namely those for weird pairing styles eg. wiimote, support for new NetworkManager) but with enough spare timers it should be possible
It would be a huge loss to desktop linux to just leave it to rot…
(After revival of blueman, gvfs-obexftp port to bluez5 is obviously trivial, if not done sooner by gnome itself)

I meant the teams who work on DEs, but if they're not interested in supporting anything else than the latest bluez, you're on your own.

But we aren't using those DEs - this is from where problems comes from
Don't think about mate-only… more like flux/openbox *
*Yet another rephrase - there are Gnome3, KDE5 and "Others"

Ah, so it's not up to mate folks?
Edit:

Ah, OK.
