Cannot uninstall packages (could not satisfy dependencies)

I originally installed ibus (Wanted a different language IME). When trying to uninstall it, I get

error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: gnome-settings-daemon: requires ibus

Then I saw a gnome tutorial, and thought maybe if I installed gnome-extra, I would get what I needed.
However, when trying to uninstall that

error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: empathy: requires cheese
:: gnome-contacts: requires cheese
:: gnome-control-center: requires gnome-color-manager
:: nautilus: requires nautilus-sendto

How can I uninstall ibus, and gnome-extra, when they now say they have dependencies, but it worked fine without them?

Re: Cannot uninstall packages (could not satisfy dependencies)

What happens if you try to install a new IME?

I can install uim, and then remove uim, if that's what you mean

Haven't tried it out yet, but I want to uninstall those other packages first

Because I don't want gnome-extra and ibus installed, and I would like an ime, but not as much.

Re: Cannot uninstall packages (could not satisfy dependencies)

ibus has been a dependency for gnome-settings-daemon for a while: https://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit … 2381ecd91b

Seems you have to remove nautilus, empathy etc. too. If you don't need them, go ahead.

Hmm. I uninstalled nautilus, empathy, etc to remove the rest of gnome-extra.
I will mess around with ibus to see if Ic an get it working. Thanks!

Re: Cannot uninstall packages (could not satisfy dependencies)

A quick way to remove something + the things that depend on it is to use pacman's cascade flag. Read up about it (and the potential dangers of using it) by running 'man pacman'.

Sakura:-
Mobo: MSI MAG X570S TORPEDO MAX // Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X @4.9GHz // GFX: AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT // RAM: 32GB (4x 8GB) Corsair DDR4 (@ 3000MHz) // Storage: 1x 3TB HDD, 6x 1TB SSD, 2x 120GB SSD, 1x 275GB M2 SSD

Making lemonade from lemons since 2015.

Any news?
