Hi!
I am trying to bring my Intel Wireless 7260 chip to life, but i am struggeling. It seems that no interface is present:
root@wisper # iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.
As far as I understood, this chip should be supported by the most recent kernel.
root@wisper # uname --all
Linux wisper 3.10.3-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Jul 26 11:26:59 CEST 2013 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Here some details concerning the chip and my system:
root@wisper # lspci -vnn

I would be very gratefull, if somebody could give me a hint, what I could try.
Best,

I don't think this card is supported on Linux... yet. It is a *very* new card, so I think there might be some preliminary work on it, but I don't think anything resembling finished work.
You might want to have a look at this page. At the bottom, there is a link to iwlwifi-next. You might want to think about giving that a try since it is a link to the git tree for the future iwlwifi.

Hi!
Thanks for your reply! I know, that the card is very new, but 'modinfo iwlwifi' for instance shows already an entry 'firmware: iwlwifi-7260-6.ucode' and in the folder /usr/lib/firmware/ there is also a file iwlwifi-7260-7.ucode. That's why I thought that there is a small chance to get it working already... ;-)
Here is the corresponding commit for linux-firmware:

The firmware might be there (which is a great start BTW), but that doesn't necessarily mean that there is already full support within the iwlwifi module itself. You have to remember that changes have to go through the process of being written and accepted into the kernel then go through the whole rc process before making it to our repos.
You might want to try the linux-git package from the AUR. It is listed as an old version, but since it is a git package it will just update itself as necessary to the latest version.

Patches to enable the 7000 family on kernel 3.10: http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-wire … 09955.html
If you're not up to compiling your own kernel, you'll need to wait for 3.11

I was able to get it working by compiling the wireless-testing kernel following the instructions by ryanvade at http://communities.intel.com/thread/422 … 0&tstart=0 and from the arch wiki.
I'd never compiled my own kernel, and I'm pretty eager to get back to the standard kernel once it's fully supported, but for now I have the card working and things are running smoothly. I'm wishing I documented what I did a little better (I promised myself I would, but never got around to it) so I could share with you.
Good luck!

With kernel 3.11.6 is (partially) working. Some issue but the interface is there.

I can confirm the card is working well with kernel 3.12 though there seem to be some issues with others. I have not tested this myself though. Here is the bugreport: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=63091
