Re: Postfix ???

the arch package for postfix doesn't include mysql by default (anymore?).. maybe it never did...hmm...

anyway, at one point I had my own package for it. I think I lost the pkgbuild, and package, in a recent hard drive snafu.. (yay for forgetting to backup an svn folder)..

I recall the modification to the pkgbuild was not horrendous though.. simply a matter of adding a ./configure flag (dont quote me)

Snaggle postfix from abs, and give recompiling it a shot. Check and see what flags you need too..
--with-mysql ? probably something similar..

Re: Postfix ???

postfix-mysql should be used instead of the plain postfix, as far as I can see in the package list.

Re: Postfix ???

You should be able to login with...
per@udbytossen.dk
or whatever your email address is.

and... someone else mentioned recently that courier packaging has changed.. I recommeneded the use of dovecot (built with mysql bindings of course).

Re: Postfix ???

Nope - I can´t

I can´t even get dovecot to start up.. I´m quitting..
Also Arch Linux...

I´m so tired of trying to understand this system..
Going back to Windows - That is working - for what I´m needing...

Re: Postfix ???

Well.. Sorry to hear you threw in the towel.
If archlinux is not your kettle of fish, you might try an "easier" to use linux.
Ubuntu, Fedora, Mandrake.. those are all far easier for people to get up and running. Archlinux requires a bit more "work" under the hood to get things done. Other distros do much more work for you. (which can be good or bad, depending on your needs).

If you do decide to go back to windows, then be careful out there, and best of luck to you.

Re: Postfix ???

No way - I´ll go back to windows...
I´m just really really tired of the problem all along the way with arch
I´m trying to get an education, and on the school the system runs on Arch... I´m in the group that tries to run the system, but they are older system, so that way I can´t use the conf from that point.
And so I tried to make it work at home - i´m at this point in need of an mailserver, becaurse my ISP only have 1mailbox - and 5Aliasses - that mean my kid get my post also (first one emptyes the box )

So I´ll keep trying, but I can´t figure out what to do becaurse each time I try something - I feel like i´m hitting the wall - constantly...
That´s very frustratin - specially becaurse my english isn´t that good to understand all howto´s and so on...

That what´s p*******  me off

Re: Postfix ???

The worst part is that I can´t see what the problem is ????
Dovecot - make ther changes that is says on the documention for dovecot - but it won´t start!!! (can find what seems to be the problem)
Courier imap - nope got it to work - but an error keep coming op with input/output error  -

So no matter what - I can´t gewt it to work...
So I can´t see what the problem should be - everybody else seems to get it to work easely.
So can´t figure out what to do - to make it work..

As by logging in - can´t understand why it put´s the mailserver name after my emailadress  - when i´ll try to login using courier- imap !!!
and then I get the error.

Re: Postfix ???

Give Hula a shot.  It's really simple to set up, and it's in the AUR.

I got tired of managing Postfix for very few users.  Hula made everything simple.
