Hi,
I think i have a problem getting the intel driver to work. I have a Acer Aspire One D257 Netbook (Pineview) with the current archbang. I installed xf86-video-intel manually, but that didn't help it. I also tried some patched together xorg.conf (20-gpudriver.conf) but that crashes x at startup.
Here is the "glxinfo | grep -i render" output:
direct rendering: Yes
OpenGL renderer string: Gallium 0.4 on llvmpip
and "modprobe -l | grep intel" listing:
kernel/sound/pci/snd-intel8x0.ko.gz
kernel/sound/pci/snd-intel8x0m.ko.gz
kernel/sound/pci/hda/snd-hda-intel.ko.gz
kernel/arch/x86/crypto/crc32c-intel.ko.gz
kernel/arch/x86/crypto/aesni-intel.ko.gz
kernel/arch/x86/kvm/kvm-intel.ko.gz
kernel/drivers/dma/intel_mid_dma.ko.gz
kernel/drivers/platform/x86/intel_ips.ko.gz
kernel/drivers/platform/x86/intel_oaktrail.ko.gz
kernel/drivers/platform/x86/intel_menlow.ko.gz
kernel/drivers/i2c/busses/i2c-intel-mid.ko.gz
kernel/drivers/char/agp/intel-agp.ko.gz
kernel/drivers/char/agp/intel-gtt.ko.gz
kernel/drivers/char/hw_random/intel-rng.ko.gz
Is there a way to force the intel driver without a xorg.conf? Did i miss something? Maybe someone with a similar hardware has a working xorg.conf? Also: what about i915? Please excuse if this is too newbie a question, but i just recently changed from a debian to archlinux.
Thanks ahead and greetings

If you are running Archbang then you might want to go over to http://bbs.archbang.org/ in order to get help with that version.

Thank you. I just figured same kernel, same repositories and larger community results in a higher probability of somebody experiencing the same problem.

Solved.
Add
i915.modeset=1
to your menu.lst . This results in a working intel driver, but it is rather slow. If there is interest, i will post my xorg.conf which blasts pixels a lot faster.

@atcl if you still have it I'm very interested.

its a 2 year old thread and that too for a different distro. Things have changed drastically during that time. Do not necrobump threads.
Closing....
There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !
