My favourites are Thunar and PCmanFM, but i do not know if double voting is allowed so i cast a vote for Thunar.

--edit per comment below:
@raul_l#264: Thank you for reporting the issue, I'm really surprised that nobody noticed it (myself included) until now. I fixed the formatting error introduced in post #164 (hopefully without introducing new errors ). Regarding the emacs dired entry, I'm not sure how to classify it: For what I know, emacs can be run either using the terminal interface or using its own GUI window. I left it in the GUI section for now, but if there is some more familiar with emacs which thinks it should be moved to the CLI section then please do it.

I think emacs dired qualifies more as a CLI. Also, there has been an error copying the data from post #163 to #164.

In my view, a GUI has clickable icons and other widgets. In emacs dired you can indeed click on the file names but that kind of interaction is quite limited. Most commands need to be entered from keyboard. It's like starting a shell session in emacs - it doesn't turn coreutils into a GUI.

I use Nautilus because I am bland. On the command line I just ls, mv, cd, cp, and all of that because really, what else do you need from life?

[1] rsync
• in fact, i use GUI file manager (i.e. thunar) only for such things as accessing MTP devices or convenient browsing of samba shares on the local network.
• for regular file/directory operations, midnight commander forever.
i'm also a great fan of its built-in editor.
• for copying big files or recursive copying of directories, even locally, i definitely prefer rsync (due to heavy usage of hard links on my drives, but not only).
• i'm not a fan of Enlightenment FM, despite the fact that i'm the great fan of Enlightenment DE.

Well, it's all about personal preference, but I have to wonder...
for regular file/directory operations, midnight commander forever.
i'm also a great fan of its built-in editor.
Why? How?
