Incorrect application icons despite working .desktop-files

Hello all,

I set up Archbang a few months ago, i.e., openbox for WM, tint2 for panel and obconf/lxappearance for visual settings. My problem is how the "Faience" icon theme is handled on my machine, which after extensive googleing and trying, I can't quite get my head around.

The theme is installed globally in "/usr/share/icons". Mostly tint2 handles the icons just fine, but switches to the "hicolor" theme for some applications (e.g., gvim, libreoffice applications...). I am not sure, but the problen does not seem to be specific to tint2 as also openbox uses incorrect icons for window titles.
Strangely these icons are displayed correctly for the respective .desktop-files in "/usr/share/applications/", which to my knowledge do not conflict with any .local settings. Icon specifications within the .desktop files are not absolute paths, but even switching to absolute values (and rebooting) does not solve the problem. Application icons within the "Faience" themes are vector format for anything bigger than 96px and its index-file lists these as scalable up to 512px. From what I understand of the freedesktop.org specification, it looks about right.

I searched the arch forum and google, but I am not infallible. So any helpful link, any idea is appreciated. This is really bothering my OCD...

Thanks in advance smile

Re: Incorrect application icons despite working .desktop-files

sigru Archbang is not Arch. Please ask on the Archbang forums (although I am not sure if they are up again yet). Please read up on our policy about supporting only Arch on these boards.
