[SOLVED] Kernel 3.12.3-1 upgrade problem

Upgraded to latest Kernel, 3.12.3-1

It boots up so that console is usable (so linux is running), but GUI does not load (SLiM + Openbox).

Downgrading linux and linux headers back to 3.12.2-1 sets everything back to normal.  So if no one else has noticed it, I suspect there's a problem with the new kernel.  I'm presuming for the moment that it is NOT specific to me and my system.

Ah, thanks.  Didn't see that one.  (and this is an nvidia box...)

I guess I'll just wait for a newer kernel version, which I presume will fix this.

for a newer nvidia (nvidia-304xx)

I presume you mean that the fix will not be when a new linux kernel comes out, but when a new nvidia driver comes out. 

Fair enough.  I'm fine with the older kernel for now.

Combination of new Linux kernel and new nvidia driver works fine for me now.
