UPNP served on LAN, not seen on WiFi - needs multicasting?

I've used various configurations of an UPNP server (minidlna, XBMC) on an Ethernet connected Linux machine and #discovery# is a major problem on other WiFi devices such as Android.

I'm using BubbleUPNP on Android. Using BubbleUPNP server I can connect to UPNP server and play media through Internet but not on local (home) network unless I start UPNP Inspector first on LAN connected machine and then first UPNP server is seen on Android. UPNP inspector finds media server immediately.

I'm totally stuck but have read on various forums that "multicasting" would somehow bridge LAN and WLAN. My networking experience is not so advanced and so I don't know if this needs to be done on router level or can be done on local computer. If so, what do I have to do that is what configuration settings need to be changed?

Please if you can help me get on track with this issue I should be able to figure out the details my self. I'd never heard of multicasting before this issue!

As expected - if I setup media server using WiFi it is immediately visible as a UPNP server...
