Url rewriting

Hi !

I search to activate the url rewriting in my apache server.
But I always have a 404 error...
I uncommented this line :

LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so

and I changed "AllowOverride None" by "AllowOverride All" in /ect/httpd/conf/httpd.conf and in /etc/httpd/conf/extra/httpd-userdir.conf.
I'm lost...
