Including more information here (eg, WHAT has "gone wrong"?), and especially editing your subject to something helpful will solicit much better feedback from others: http://catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questio … bespecific

Oh no! Something has gone wrong is an error message that gnome gives when you try to log on. It looks somewhat like this.
If I knew the error I'd fix it. Unfortunately Gnome doesn't give any more detail. I checked the gdm an xorg logs and I couldn't figure it out. Thats why I posted them to see if anyone else could. I do not know what other information I should supply.

I could make a snarkey comment about that is how Gnome looks in my experience, but I shan't. My very best suggestion is to delete or rename your Gnome configuration directories and try again. Or try it as a different user and see if that works.

Thank you ewaller. I tried both of your suggestions and neither worked so I uninstalled gnome and installed it again. It now works. Thanks

You might find an actual error message in `~/.cache/gdm/session.log`. Also, if you feel up for it, report a bug upstream (to GNOME) because that is a depressingly useless error message.
