I have also installed all the needed dependencies as found here.
It should also be noted that the output of this command

Everyone gets the libdbusmenu-warning. That's normal (and therefore not the reason of your problem).

Then do you have any idea why natural selection 2 crashes immediately? I assumed it was the libdbusmenu since that message began right after I clicked "Play"

Well, that is not what I wanted to hear. I wanted to know, which video card you have. From googling, it looks like, you have a Nvidia Optimus thing, haven't you? I can't help you with that, but that might be the core problem.

Source? Is that a fact or just you just speculating? While Intel integrated graphics is certainly is not as powerful as an external Nvidia graphics card, 3rd Gen i7 graphics are supposed to be pretty great.

Pretty great maybe in Windows, but not in Linux. Also from what I read, atm you can play this game only with Nvidia or AMD proprietary drivers, not with Intel open-source (or any other open-source driver).
