[SOLVED] Intel video drivers

I've got this card according to hwd:

2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller

So I installed the xf86-video-intel drivers, However, in hwd, it always says that it is using the xf86-video-vesa drivers.

What am I doing wrong?

Yes, they are not installed. Even when I do "sudo pacman -R xf86-video-vesa" it says "error: target not found" So they are definitely not installed.

Please use code tags when pasting to the boards:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fo … s_and_Code

The log says that the Intel driver is being used.

Re: [SOLVED] Intel video drivers

What is that hwd command you are talking about?
The X.org output looks perfect, it tries vesa, cannot find it, uses intel. Great!

L.E. Ok, I saw it, part of AUR.

Same here. I loaded hwd from AUR. There must be a reason why it is not in the main repositories wink

Re: [SOLVED] Intel video drivers

Where do you get this "hwd" program? It looks like utter crap. It's not only entirely useless, but also wrong about almost everything. And the more important question: Why do you even want to use it?

From the AUR... I guess I thought it looked nice or something tongue but yeah, you are right, it doesn't work. Uninstalling it now.

Re: [SOLVED] Intel video drivers

If you are looking for a script / program that can easily and quickly return you data about your system, then I can recommend you to try out inxi.
You can find it in the community repositories.

Do you suggest removing the mention of it from the wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ar … nology#hwd ?

Re: [SOLVED] Intel video drivers

It was useful a few years ago and in official repos, but as X autoconfiguration and udev device detection improved, hwd was no longer useful.

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
