[SOLVED] wicd and networkmanager connect and disconnect

Hello,
I've installed my laptopo and netctl works great with my wireless setup.
However, I wanted a GUI app so I decided to try wicd.
I disabled the netctl service and auto connection and started wicd.
I can find my wifi network and it seems to connect, pass the authentication and then disconnects.
When I tried NetworkManager the same thing happened.
For now I re-enabled netctl and have no problem - but I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong.
Did anyone else encountered this kind of issue?

Thank you

Logs?  Did you 'stop' the service or 'disable' them? Are you using the applets for wicd and nm?  Can you manually look at the profiles created by wicd and nm?

Re: [SOLVED] wicd and networkmanager connect and disconnect

I was running into the same problem with my fresh arch install on my laptop. I use kde-applets-nm as my front end for networkmanager.

There is a small part of the logs included (as the rest is pretty much the same)

From these logs I assumed that there might be a problem with IP6. As I don't use IP6 in my home it is pretty useless anyway, so I disabled it for my wired connection. After re-enabling NetworkManager.service and disabling dhcpcd.service (and a reboot to be sure), I was able to connect to my wired connection. Since I did not change the wireless connection, I ruled out the possibility of forgetting to disable dhcpcd.service. After disabling IP6 on the wireless connection it worked as well.

So, in conclusion: Disable IP6 if you don't use it and enjoy your network.

EDIT: grammar

EDIT2: Also see the wiki on networkmanager. The problem mentioned here seems to be what happens here.

Re: [SOLVED] wicd and networkmanager connect and disconnect

Hi - Thanks !
I think it was the dhcpcd.service. I forgot to disable it when I started NetworkManager.
What I did now was disabling all the netctl services, the dhcpcd service - then started the NetworkManager service and disabled IPv6.
Everything works :-)
