First boot...wireless not working with card ASUS USB-N10

Hi All,
I dove into Arch Linux, and actually Linux itself, in the past few days as I'm wanting the more self-taught approach. That said, when I got Arch working, my wifi was not working. I could see the wifi-menu, but when I entered the code for the network and hit OK, nothing more happened then the screen returning to the command line, the prefix on the command line changing from "1 root@archiso ~ #" to "2 root@archiso ~ #", and there being a sad face in the righthand corner of the screen. After doing some reading around, I found out that it was a firmware problem. On www.linux-wless.passys.nl, I found my wireless card and found out that it is "Supported by the rtl8192su and r8712u staging drivers in the mainline Linux kernel. Firmware from userspace is required." What does firmware from userspace is required mean? I couldn't find the answer on the wiki or the forums.
Thanks for your answers in advance!
