[SOLVED] Wireless problems on Chromebook Pixel

Hi all,

I'm in the process of setting arch up on a Chromebook Pixel. The initial installation went smoothly, but now I am having some wireless issues. I have spent several frustrating hours trying to figure out what is going on, but so far without success, and would greatly appreciate any help.

During the install, using netctl & wifi-menu allowed me to connect to my WPA-protected network without any problems. Having booted into the newly installed system, however, I cannot connect to a wireless network.

The pixel has a Atheros AR9462 wireless adapter. This is recognised and is using the ath9k driver. I can bring the interface up and scan to see the available networks.

Netctl fails with the following output to journalctl:

network[328]: WPA association/authentication failed for interface 'wlp1s0'
network[328]: Failed to bring the network up for profile 'sjg'

Trying manually with wpa_supplicant also fails, with output

wlp1s0: CTRL-EVENT-SCAN-STARTED
wlp1s0: SME: Trying to authenticate with XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX (SSID='sjg' freq=2472 MHz)
wlp1s0: Trying to associate with XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX (SSID='sjg' freq=2472 MHz)
wlp1s0: CTRL-EVENT-SSID-TEMP-DISABLED id=0 ssid='sjg' auth_failures=1 duration=10
... ad infinitum

I wondered if the problem lay with wpa_supplicant, but attempting to connect to an unsecured network (both manually and by using netctl) is also impossible. There is no additional information in logs.

Except netctl there are no other network daemons running. dhcpcd is not running.

I'm a bit stuck and not sure what to try next. What is so frustrating is that it worked without any problems whilst installing from the live disk. Any suggestions would be gratefully received!

Stewart

Re: [SOLVED] Wireless problems on Chromebook Pixel

Have it working - the problem was with wpa_supplicant. Using the ARM to downgrade from 2.1 to 2.0 has it working.

Others seem to have had similar issues with the latest wpa_supplicant.

Anyway, I can get on with setting up my new toy now so marked as solved.

Re: [SOLVED] Wireless problems on Chromebook Pixel

Thank you very much pal. Solved in the same way.
Now wpa_supplicant 2.1 is included in the installing version 2014.04.01.
