Is anyone running testing? - after a udev & kernel update (today) it's stalling at UDEV on boot-up - just hangs, and stays in that state - anyone else noticed this?
Ta.

Hey tpowa, I'm experiencing this problem too.
I'm running an IBM Thinkpad R40 with the following (rough) spec:
(Centrino)
Intel Pentium M 1.3Ghz
Intel ipw2100 wireless
intel EtherExpressPro 100
ATI Radeon Mobility
It's notable that if you ctrl-C whilst udev is starting the machine will boot with the root partition mounted read only.

booting with load_modules=off should give you your system in a working state

please join me on irc, then you can test my fix

No hanging here, but it takes half again as long to start as it used to.

Mines lengthened a bit aswell - (roughly 4-5 seconds on udev at the moment) - not sure what anyone else is finding at the mo.

6 or 7 seconds here. I pointed out a little while ago that this was strange since it takes only about one second for udevd, it seems the devs are still working on that... For now, anyway, it's slightly annoying, but it's a delay I can live with.

I just upgraded to udev 084-3 and now i get
Failed to find real device node for /dev/hdd: No such file or directory
when i try to play cd or dvd. I had no problems with udev 084-2 can someone please upload it for me to download so i can downgrade.
A good friend will come and bail you out of jail...BUT a true friend will be sitting next to you saying, "Damn...that was fun!"

I am sorry, I don't have -2 version but I had a problem with netwok again. After upgrade and reboot it didn't find my network. After reboot was okay but is a little slower than version 0.84-2.

Hi i can't work on that udev needs that time to parse all the stuff, you cannot optimise that, udev does now handle all the module loading, keep that in mind, my system starts fasten then before so who cares if 5 seconds udevs needs when you get in the end a boot that is 3 seconds faster?

archck has not the uevent patches from testing kernel i guess that new udev needs.
Offline
aye, as mentioned in another thread,
ArchCK is compiled for current, not testing. I will take a look and see what I can do. If the patches dont break current, which they probably wont, I will most likely include them next release which ought to be in the next few days.

I don't care if udev looks 5 or 10 seconds but I don't like that I need to reboot few times that network start working.
