Yeah.. I know when it's done. tongue
But is their something 'we' could do at the moment? Are things still being fixed or is there a freeze?

Thanks for your hard work guys! big_smile

There are still some dependencies that are still in testing so those will also have to be moved to stable before gnome3.12 can be.

@beta990: I'm not in the staff, but Gnome 3.12.1 is going to be released tomorrow, and gnome 3.12.0 is already in testing since a few days, so I think it will be soon in [extra] wink

I can remember Arch always using the 3.*.1 branch when it comes to gnome. Will this also be the case for this release? smile

GNOME 3.12 moved to extra. I also took the liberty to move cinnamon from community-testing to community, as that was broken with new cogl/clutter/tracker.

I think the Cinnamon 2.2 works with the new cogl/clutter/tracker, or at least that's what I read on my closed bug reports.

The Latest News section is only for large changes that (usually) require user intervention. Getting the latest updates is assumed with Arch Linux, so it isn't really news big_smile

I didn't want to make a new thread for this, will 3.12.1 be relased within the week? I have a problem in gnome-terminal, but I don't want to whine when an update is just around the corner.

File bugs if you have problems. If it's a packaging error, file it in our tracker, if it's an upstream bug, file it there. If you want the fix to your upstream bug patched before a new release is made, file a bug at our place, linking to the upstream bug/commit.

GNOME 3.12.1 is becoming available upstream. Some updates are bugfixes or improvements, most packages just come with some updated translations. I've already done a few of the updates, the rest will be made available later this week.

Argh! @JGC, I think you moved Cinnamon before all the packages were ready for it, because various bits of settings in Cinnamon are now broken. I noted that cinnamon-settings and cinnamon-settings-daemon haven't been updated to version 2.2, but they've been flagged for the update.

You can see this thread: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1404620

Re: Gnome 3.12 Beta

So gnome-session-properties is gone. . .  The tweak tool provides some of the same functionality, but can only start programs that already have .desktop files.  Is there some easy way to run a  script when the session starts without a desktop file, or will I have to add my scripts to a .desktop file in ~/.config/autostart manually?

Re: Gnome 3.12 Beta

I thought it would be worthy mentioning that in is necessary to install new gnome software like polari and gnome-logs separately because, in the upgrade, pacman will not install them. Or

pacman -S gnome gnome-extra --needed

There is a difference between knowing the path and walking the path.

The problem with Cinnamon is that it was rebuilt initially for clutter/cogl, but the maintainer started updating it a few days ago without finishing that, overwriting the rebuild work which was done.

Also, either the MATE maintainer doesn't use MATE himself, or he doesn't use testing. The upower bump didn't come as a surprise, it has been sitting in testing for a while.

IMHO testing and community-testing should be considered as something that should work, not just a pile of packages that haven't been tested at all. That's where we have staging and the kde/gnome-unstable repositories for.

Re: Gnome 3.12 Beta

That seems to be an old logfile, with GDM 3.12 Xorg logs to the journal. Try something like "journalctl -b /usr/bin/Xorg --no-pager". Looks more like a problem with your graphic drivers than with gdm.

Fixed my issue, gnome-terminal would not start because locale.conf did not exist; thread here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1403166

This is the error that was generated by gnome-terminal (I ran gnome-terminal from lxterm):

Error constructing proxy for org.gnome.Terminal:/org/gnome/Terminal/Factory0: Error calling StartServiceByName for org.gnome.Terminal: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.Spawn.ChildExited: Process org.gnome.Terminal exited with status 1

Re: Gnome 3.12 Beta

GDM also isn't working on my end, though simply entering a tty and running startx works just fine. Here's the output of "journalctl -b /usr/bin/Xorg --no-pager":

That seems to be an old logfile, with GDM 3.12 Xorg logs to the journal. Try something like "journalctl -b /usr/bin/Xorg --no-pager". Looks more like a problem with your graphic drivers than with gdm.
