[SOLVED] play quicktime in firefox ?

Recently totem-plugins were removed due to gnome update to 3.12 and I can't no longer view quicktime from apple trailer for instance. Need a replacement. gecko-player doesn't work in firefox.

Re: [SOLVED] play quicktime in firefox ?

Have you tried https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Br … e_trailers (at the very bottom)?

Edit: I didn't have to tweak anything, it just works for me. I only had to restart firefox after I've installed gecko-mediaplayer.

I also want apple trailers

Official firefox support page. After installing gecko with gnome-mplayer I do get audio in firefox with those trailers, but no video, however I did not restart my machine yet, only the browser.

Re: [SOLVED] play quicktime in firefox ?

I got:

cpulimit
gst-plugins-bad
gst-plugins-base
gst-plugins-base-libs
gst-plugins-good
gst-plugins-ugly
gst-vaapi
gstreamer
gstreamer0.10
gstreamer0.10-bad

gstreamer0.10-base
gstreamer0.10-base-plugins
gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg
gstreamer0.10-good
gstreamer0.10-good-plugins
gstreamer0.10-python
gstreamer0.10-ugly
gstreamer0.10-ugly-plugins
gstreamermm
lib32-gstreamer0.10
lib32-gstreamer0.10-base
lib32-gstreamer0.10-base-plugins
phonon-gstreamer
pkgstats
synfigstudio
tungsten

I also tried using firefox with a temporary (clean) profile without any add-ons, still only audio. I can seek, set volume, but there is no progress animation in seeking bar or time value change except when loading cache.
Run in terminal:

(firefox:29737): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: Attempt to add property GnomeProgram::default-icon after class was initialised

Trying to play videos from sample mov files result in:

sample_iPod.m4v #works with internal firefox player
sample_iTunes.mov #does not work, "Video can't be played because the file is corrupt." error message
sample.3gp played #video and audio only the first time, afterwards only audio, similar to those trailers
#terminal output:
#GMLIB-Message: Entering destroy stream reason = 1 - Generic Error for file:///tmp/sample.3gp
sample_mpeg4.mp4 #same as sample_iTunes.mov
sample_3GPP2.3g2 #opens an external player
sample_sorenson.mov #same as sample_iTunes.mov

Thing is sample.3gp played only once, afterwards there was compositing corruption on the screen and only audio played. I tried to reproduce it with cleaning the temporary profile and killing plugin-container, without success.

Re: [SOLVED] play quicktime in firefox ?

I'm using the stock Arch kernel and an ancient graphics card

 lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82845G/GL[Brookdale-G]/GE Chipset Integrated Graphics Device (rev 01)

and after installing gecko-mediaplayer it just works.

Re: [SOLVED] play quicktime in firefox ?

Same results with stock kernel 3.14.1-1, except that I now only have audio sample.3gp all the time, but that may have been a one time occurrence anyway. Rusty725, did you made any progress? Can you play any of the samples?
