Sometimes when I quit x all the lower case characters turn to gibberish. (The uppercase text is still recognizeable though.) I can type and my commands are understood but the console shows a bunch of blocks, down arrows, and other symbols instead of the alphabet.
Any idea why this happens? I've seen it regardless of which WM I use (e17 or Fluxbox)

driver problem!
Try to use vesa framebuffer for console.

I think I am using the vesafb for console.. here is my boot line in menu.lst:

No.. I have an Intel i915 chipset which uses the i810 driver.
