Re: Deepin Desktop Environment on Arch

Thanks to Metak. Now all things are fully functional.. I'll review them later if something doesn't work. So far so good..
By the way I am not using compiz-ubuntu. I used compiz-mate, fusion-icon and other plugins.

Re: Deepin Desktop Environment on Arch

Whoa. I updated and now all sorts of things are wonky. I have no dock (is running) and certain keys trigger things to happen like hard set shortcuts. Example: 'd' opens control center, 't' opens a terminal, etc. All shortcuts are global. Its making things fun for now. Any idea what package i need to start at?

Re: Deepin Desktop Environment on Arch

@rAX: thank you, it turned out that openGL wans't running.
Though I still can't get dde-dock to work, it's just not visible when booting into DDE (but still running as a process). When I kill it and restart it, it gives me zero terminal output so I've got no idea where to look for problems...

@Archer1X: why are you using compiz-mate? Did you have problems using compiz-ubuntu?

Re: Deepin Desktop Environment on Arch

I was able to install deepin.
Also launching lightdm (from metak's repo) works fine, i can login to a deepin session.
But after logging in the background-image disappears and i can only X's cursor (background is black).
Funnily enough i cant open the context-menu of the desktop (right-click). But thats it...

my .xsession-errors file:

(dde-launcher:1424): WARNING **: Couldn't register with accessibility bus: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.

XIO: fatal IO error 11 (Die Ressource ist zur Zeit nicht verfügbar) on X s after 432 requests (432 known processed) with 0 events remaining.

"Die Ressource ist zur Zeit nicht verfügbar": The resource is currently not available

[EDIT]

I can also open the side-bar/menu but this always takes a few seconds:

Re: Deepin Desktop Environment on Arch

I've installed pretty much everything deepin that pops up in the repository, and I still can't get the desktop to load. Here's my Xorg log from /var/log/Xorg.1.log - Xorg.1.log

Also, sometimes when I try to start deepin (startx, with 'exec startdde' in .xinitrc file) it gives the following errors:

Loading extension GLX

Bug Report

Summary    0003494: {NON Docked App]minimize a window and dock icon disappears [Docked App]minimize window closes or shows not open
Description    When I minimize a window that is not a docked application the application goes to the tray then the icon disappears and the process is running in the background i just have no way to unminimize the application because the icon is gone from the tray.

When I minimize a window that is a docked application the application minimizes to the dock then the dock shows the application is not open when the process is still running in the background and when I click the icon on the dock the dock launches another instance of the application.

Re: Deepin Desktop Environment on Arch

everything is running great i replaced compiz-ubuntu with deepin-compiz and used my own lightdm with gtk-another-greeter custom with one issue.

I installed deepin desktop 2 and can someone help me understand why gtk-decorator is loading and not emerald? i made pkgbuild of emerald to work with deepin-compiz pakage and it loads when i type run command "emerald --replace" but of course wont  set on reboot, in ccsm i have under window decorator emerald --replace and set to load in gsettings and "decor" is as a plugin set to load and has the emerald --replace under it, with a no go.

Sems to fic by making a .desktop file in etc/xdg/autostart and making a .sh in /usr/bin to set emerald

Re: Deepin Desktop Environment on Arch

control center bugs...

1) Cant type in the control center, key board is set to US. When i Trty to type it type on stuff in the background so it seems that its not focusing on it correctly or something  http://www.linuxdeepin.com/mantis/view.php?id=3508

2) Cant change any power management options, I click on example balanced or high performance and does not change. http://www.linuxdeepin.com/mantis/view.php?id=3510

3) control center > personalization > icons menu wont open to change. lxappearcnce doesnt change the icons either, the only what i can change icons is be going into /usr/share/icons and changing the name of the icons set I want to use to "Deepin" http://www.linuxdeepin.com/mantis/view.php?id=3509

And I noticed after the recent update the volume icon and network icon in the dock is gone.. So dock applets isnt load right or?

Thanks for your report, marked. And the problem of deepin-compiz(there is also one in @metak's repository now) is still being addressed.

@metak, can you please shorten the repo name, it's a little too long and it's not displaying correctly in the terminal. :\

Re: Deepin Desktop Environment on Arch

I have a bit of a problem, I have been looking around for a nice DE and this has caught my eye, though when I launch DDE the dock does not show and attempting to run it via the terminal does not show at all either saying it is already running. Should I be posting this elsewhere because this, to me seems to be the best place, though any help would be greatly appreciated!

The Deepin DE wouldn't work for me also however when I used the proprietary graphics card driver it then worked! Try using the proprietary drivers if using AMD Catalyst read the wiki nvidia users can just use "pacman -S nvidia" and then install the other nvidia drivers if needed....

Just a heads-up Deepin Desktop Environment 2.0 is officially out and should be stable well on the deepin distro 2014 it should be - could the repository be updated with the up-to-date version, please @Metak - and could the repository be shortened as well to something like [deepin_arch] or something close to that instead of the long repository name which links to opensuse?

I would've set up repo name to something simple if that was possible (maybe it is and I just don't know how?). OBS (opensuse build service) sets the repo name.

home_metakcahura - for my OBS home project with username...
arch-deepin - subproject name...
Arch_Extra - built with arch extra repository...

Hence: home_metakcahura_arch-deepin_Arch_Extra.db

Current version of DDE in my repo is 2.1.git20140707~fd5a06d and stable version in deepin repos is 2.1+20140704121757~12fbba9f03 so what's the problem exactly? It's not outdated. These packages are mostly built from github snapshots and are meant for testing purposes and playing around with DDE. ;-)

Re: Deepin Desktop Environment on Arch

Just installed to try out dde, and nothing seems to launch except the lightdm theme! Dock is invisible, although I see a process, control-center shows up once in a while, but takes forever to change screens.

Hot corners aren't working in any way, shape or form. Going to have to stop trying to use it until the next update I'm afraid.

I also have this problem. Install went good, and I see 3 icons on the desktop from my other DE. I can launch the settings menu, but it gets stuck at some point.

Deepin moved their project from github to https://gitcafe.com/Deepin/  and packages in OBS haven't been updated in a long time and it would be best not to use them until further notice.

OBS has some issues with archlinux and now it's been almost three weeks that OBS is unusable for arch. Can't build anything.

I've already contacted FaSheng (Deepin developer) and by the looks of it maybe he'll pick up these deepin-arch packages in OBS and update them when possible.

Cheers ;-)

Re: Deepin Desktop Environment on Arch

OK! Finally the issues with OBS have been resolved and packages are updated! ;-)
So, for all of you, interested in trying DDE2 on archlinux, here's your chance!

Please, report any bugs you find here or on deepin official bug tracker.

Anything to do with packaging you can report on that github page or just here...
