netctl: resource usage and password encryption

Hi everyone,
I recently installed ArchLinux on a not so powerful netbook.
I opted to use netctl for managing wireless connections.
Is netctl actully lighter in resource than other programs (eg: Network Manager)?
I learned that it stores password unencrypted, shoud this be a concern for regular web browsing?
Thanks in advance for advice on these questions.

Read Passphrase obfuscation (256-bit PSK) section:
