[SOLVED] Netbeans layout broken after update

Hi, after system update. Netbeans8.0 is totally broken and looks very strange I can't figure out what has happened.
Reinstalling netbeans, jdk & jre was futile..
It looks like this.

Any ideas what's broken?

$ perl -wle '$_ = 1; (1 x $_) !~ /^(11+)\1+$/ && print while $_++'

Re: [SOLVED] Netbeans layout broken after update

I just updated openjdk (now 7.u60_2.5.0-2) and have exactly the same problem with Netbeans 8 now. Could you resolve this in the meanwhile?

Re: [SOLVED] Netbeans layout broken after update

As a temporary fix I installed jdk7-compat from AUR and started netbeans with:

netbeans --jdkhome /opt/java7

Re: [SOLVED] Netbeans layout broken after update

I have exact the same problem with all installed Java applications since the last update. No fonts / text at all.

pacman.log

Re: [SOLVED] Netbeans layout broken after update

Did any of you try to downgrade?

i did :

[2014-06-16 21:17] [PACMAN] downgraded jre7-openjdk-headless (7.u60_2.5.0-2 -> 7.u60_2.5.0-1)
[2014-06-16 21:17] [PACMAN] downgraded jre7-openjdk (7.u60_2.5.0-2 -> 7.u60_2.5.0-1)
[2014-06-16 21:17] [PACMAN] downgraded jdk7-openjdk (7.u60_2.5.0-2 -> 7.u60_2.5.0-1)

But for some reason java apps did not run. They crashed when i tried to open them.

Re: [SOLVED] Netbeans layout broken after update

I solved this problem by adding

export _JAVA_OPTIONS='-Dawt.useSystemAAFontSettings=on'

in the /etc/profile.d/jre.sh file.

Probably because there was a giflib upgrade as well, and the previous openjdk packages are looking for the older version of the library. If you downgrade giflib, as well, java apps should run ok.

Unfortunately, this doesn't work with PHPStorm. Seems like it should, but it doesn't. Perhaps PHPStorm isn't picking up the jre settings.

Re: [SOLVED] Netbeans layout broken after update

this commands will work.

sudo pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/jre7-openjdk-headless-7.u55_2.4.7-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
sudo pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/jre7-openjdk-7.u55_2.4.7-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
sudo ln -s  /usr/lib/libgif.so libgif.so.6

fuck java, but netbeans for php is the best

Re: [SOLVED] Netbeans layout broken after update

emanuelx, your "ln -s" has its parameters the wrong way around wink

Also, run "ldconfig" after such changes, to rebuild /etc/ld.so.cache

Re: [SOLVED] Netbeans layout broken after update

For PHPStorm the solution is to add :

export _JAVA_OPTIONS='-Dawt.useSystemAAFontSettings=on -Dswing.aatext=true -Dswing.defaultlaf=com.sun.java.swing.plaf.gtk.GTKLookAndFeel'

in the « /etc/profile.d/jre.sh »

Just login/logout to apply the change

Re: [SOLVED] Netbeans layout broken after update

Thanks, c4software, I tried a couple of solutions found elsewhere on the web, but only this one worked perfectly for me (PhpStorm user).
