Hi, after system update. Netbeans8.0 is totally broken and looks very strange I can't figure out what has happened.
Reinstalling netbeans, jdk & jre was futile..
It looks like this.

Any ideas what's broken?

$ perl -wle '$_ = 1; (1 x $_) !~ /^(11+)\1+$/ && print while $_++'

I just updated openjdk (now 7.u60_2.5.0-2) and have exactly the same problem with Netbeans 8 now. Could you resolve this in the meanwhile?

As a temporary fix I installed jdk7-compat from AUR and started netbeans with:
netbeans --jdkhome /opt/java7

I solved this problem by adding
export _JAVA_OPTIONS='-Dawt.useSystemAAFontSettings=on'
in the /etc/profile.d/jre.sh file.

Probably because there was a giflib upgrade as well, and the previous openjdk packages are looking for the older version of the library. If you downgrade giflib, as well, java apps should run ok.

Unfortunately, this doesn't work with PHPStorm. Seems like it should, but it doesn't. Perhaps PHPStorm isn't picking up the jre settings.

this commands will work.
sudo pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/jre7-openjdk-headless-7.u55_2.4.7-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
sudo pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/jre7-openjdk-7.u55_2.4.7-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libgif.so libgif.so.6
fuck java, but netbeans for php is the best

emanuelx, your "ln -s" has its parameters the wrong way around
Also, run "ldconfig" after such changes, to rebuild /etc/ld.so.cache

For PHPStorm the solution is to add :
export _JAVA_OPTIONS='-Dawt.useSystemAAFontSettings=on -Dswing.aatext=true -Dswing.defaultlaf=com.sun.java.swing.plaf.gtk.GTKLookAndFeel'
in the « /etc/profile.d/jre.sh »
Just login/logout to apply the change

Thanks, c4software, I tried a couple of solutions found elsewhere on the web, but only this one worked perfectly for me (PhpStorm user).
