Hi everyone, My name is Jason and I am 12 years of age (hopefully that won't be a problem) and I have installed arch linux on my old Dell Inspiron 8600.
I have installed
LXDE.
LXDM.
Yaourt.
Nvdia Drivers.
Wi-Fi Drivers
Firefox
Network Manager and a DCHP client
Flash Player
Installing all this and the programs took 2 days because I ran into many problems and even (probroally didn't have to but I did) installed Arch Linux a second time.
Now, onto the problem
I know how pulseaudio works so I unmuted the sound with amixer then I turned the sound up with alsamixer. All I need now is a panel applet for LXDE to change the volume up for pulseaudio.
Thanks-
Jason

See the Wiki page for PulseAudio: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PulseAudio
And under installation note pasystray-git. That is an AUR package so you will also want to read up about https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Makepkg and probably want to be familiar with an AUR helper as well. I use https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/cower/ as an AUR helper and think the world would be a better place if everyone did.

I already know how to makepkg and download things from the aur with wget, but thanks for the info anyways. Also the application yaourt I installed searches the AUR for packages and shows a list of options to pick from and it automagicially makes the package for you and installs it. (yaourt is FROM the aur so I had to makepkg with that) EDIT: Oh yeah and the NVdia drivers are from the AUR as well.

What nvidia drivers?
Just remember to check if makepkg works fine, when yaourt doesn't want to build a certain package or throws an error of some sort.

I don't think this audiotray is suitable because it doesn't have volume controls it looks like.
If anyone has one that looks like the ubuntu one that would be appriciated

Well, a problem leads to another problem... after installing this tray icon I can't remove it. Niether with pacman or yaourt
=/

To compleetly remove a package:
pacman -Rns pkg_name
Perhaps you must log out / reebot.

Post the exact command you run and the exact error you got.
Are you right-clicking on it? Did you restart?
We need more info.

Oh I had to use yaourt to remove it and there was a -gtk after the application I think. Also I have found a list of sound mixer panel applets and I have found one I like so thanks for the help guys Hopefully going to find the mark as solved button

We don't need no stinkin' button to mark the thread as solved https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=130309 :-)
BTW, you can / should remove packages with pacman. To check the log, see /var/log/pacman.log.
