Sharing a connection without Network Manager

Hi,

I am interested in sharing a connection and creating a small LAN, but without using the black-box that is Network Manager. I still want to use nm as a client (to connect the server to the internet).

Until now I managed to manually set up dnsmasq. I wish to use it for both DNS and DHCP. What other elements need to be in place in order to successfully share the connection?

The connection is shared through a wifi access point connected via eth to my local server.
