Network Manager + OpenVPN failing to automatically connect on start up

Hello everyone,

This is the first problem I've run into in half a year that I just can't find the answer to by searching.  (This is also a duplicate from a post I did a couple months ago, but no replies)  Perhaps I'm using the wrong terms while searching or something, but I just can't find the answer to this.

Anyways, upon start up, NetworkManager attempts to connect to my wifi connection, but it fails everytime.  Once I click on the name of the network on NetworkManager, it will successfully connect, with my VPN.  The plugin I'm using to connect to my VPN is networkmanager-openvpn.  I can connect to the wireless network automatically if I unselect the "automatically connect to VPN" option.

I find it strange that it won't work on start up, but it will work just by me simply clicking on the network name.  Why won't it just start successfully with the VPN on its own?  It's a small nuisance that has been bothering me for a while now.

If you need anymore information, please let me know, I'd be happy to provide it, I just don't know what's necessary.  I apologize if this post is too vague or of this has come up before.

Additional information:
DE: xfce4 w/ slim
VPN: Private Internet Access

I've also tried selecting "Use this connection only for resources on its network" just in case the VPN was trying to connect before the wireless connection, but that seemed to be ineffective as well.

Re: Network Manager + OpenVPN failing to automatically connect on start up

Maybe a bug? Have you searched for related bug reports in the networkmanager bugtracker?

The wiki mentions another method too, configuring NM dispatcher to wait before trying the VPN connect: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ne … stablished
