Setting up barebones remote access server?

Hi, I have an old-ish Dell PowerEdge server I'm looking to setup as a multipurpose personal server. I don't have much time to physically work with it, so I'm planning to pretty much just pacstrap base and configure ssh and do the rest from there remotely. Is this feasible? Are there any pitfalls I should watch out for? Router configuration, perhaps?

Yes, it is feasible.
Beware of hackers trying to break in.  Use strong passwords or ssh keys.
Forward port 22 on your router to your new server.

Aside from that, If you don't have the time, why would we invest ours?

Check wiki before asking question
And more important - never write 'welcome' in your ssh banner.

I think I read that part of the OPs post a bit differently - the OP may have a limited period of physical access to the machine in which to get all the ground work set.

Trilby, Good point.  It reads differently in the morning's light.  My apologies to hobn.

No worries ewaller. Thanks for the tips.

What's the reasoning behind not writing welcome in the banner?
