This might sound a little silly, but how did you get those large spaces between the windows, yet have them perfectly aligned? Is this a little theme border trickery?

This is probably one of the layouts included in lain: https://github.com/copycat-killer/lain
You can set exactly what you want the gap to be.

This one is my old setup that I've been sitting on for quite some time. It's using Awesome 3.4, so it'll need a little bit of persuasion to get working in newer versions of Awesome.
The bar at the top right is a battery meter which transitions from green to red as the battery drains. It's colored blue when charging to make it less of an unnecessary visual distraction (as can be seen in the third screenshot).
Oh, also, the bar at the bottom right displays the current master volume of the default audio device.

Really like this look! I was browsing through your github but didn't see configs that made this setup. Have you updated them?

recent desktop changes
heavily modified multicolor theme, most widget moved to bottom of screen & tasklist moved to top. Orange fg focus colour changed to blue & awesome logo swapped for blue arch logo
the wallpaper is part of a folder that contains about 20 different blue & black abstract images.
