Can't connect to cable modem - IPv6 Router Solicitation timed out

Hi!

I tried to connect to the internet via cable modem, but I can't. Nm-applet says nothing. I tried Wicd, too, it says it can't get IP. I tried manually, but the dhcpcd output is this:
dhcpcd[2573]: version 5.5.6 starting

dhcpcd[2573]: eth0: broadcasting for a lease
dhcpcd[2573]: eth0: sending IPv6 Router Solicitation

dhcpcd[2573]: eth0: sending IPv6 Router Solicitation
dhcpcd[2573]: eth0: no IPv6 Routers available
dhcpcd[2573]: timed out

IPv6? Is this telling me that my modem uses an IPv6 address? I didn't find anything about connecting to the internet via a cable modem with IPv6 address. I borrowed a wireless router for a while and it works. I just simply plugged in the cable to the router, configured the wireless connection and it just works.

I read the Wiki about IPv6, it says not much, but it's enabled by default... and I didn't disable it.

Those messages don't mean that it's only trying to find an ipv6 link, but simply that it's trying that as well. In any case, if you aren't using ipv6; here are instructions on how to disable it.

Also, how does the cable modem work exactly? The client pc is supposed to receive a private ip address from the cable modem's dhcp server, or a public ip from the provider?

i've already added disable ipv6 to grub. But no luck. OP were you able to fix this?
