Essentially I want to use KDEConnect to connect my phone to my laptop while doing presentations so I can use it as a remote control.
The problem is, on the university network the ports I need are blocked so I cannot connect the phone to the laptop via wifi.
What I can do is set up a portable hotspot on my phone then connect my laptop to my phone.
The only downside of doing this is that I cannot then use the internet on the laptop over wifi (Even though the phone is connected to the wifi!)
Is there any way to get arch to connect to both the university wifi and the phone's portable hotspot?
Thanks!

You wifi is tied not your phones network if your phone is connected via its own network you are in essence tethering and should be able to have internet connectivity on your computer at least with the providers I have had I have Ben able(some of them said I was not supposed to do it but they did not enforce it firmware or otherwise).
Can you not use Bluetooth to connect for the remote capabilities.

When the laptop connects to the phone, the routing tables are probably being updated to use the phone as the default. It might be a matter of fixing the routing tables.
I would use the computer as the access point and provide NAT forwarding for the phone. This way, the phone can access the laptop and, if it wants, can pass through the laptop to access the LAN. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/So … cess_point
I like the Bluetooth idea.

Thanks I'll try that and report back. Using the laptop as the access point makes sense.
Unfortunately kdeconnect does not support bluetooth, that would be the obvious solution.
