I had the same problem. Fixed creating a new user and deleting old one.
remember before deleting the old user to copy the settings file you have changed :-)

There's nothing that can be done at the Plasma level. The maintainer of libappindicator in AUR is a TU, you can ask him to move it to the repos, and then file bugs against gtk apps that support it to have them compiled against it.
Hum, indeed, it’s not at the plasma level, but since Andrea is also responsible for Qt packages, I was wondering if what Martin suggests was taken into account.
For GTK apps, we indeed need libappindicator or its alternative to be in the repo and supporting apps being build against it.

KDE Connect doesn't seem to work with KDE 5.
For one, it is not available in system settings (or system tray). I can open it using
kcmshell4 kcm_kdeconnect
but it doesn't show any device there (nor can find any), same thing at mobile end.
Should I just wait for a kde5 version?

There is a Frameworks version on AUR: kdeconnect-frameworks-git
EDIT: That said, it doesn’t seem to work better…

You need to start the service first (with kcmshell4 kcmkded)

Open a request in the bugtracker, I don't know if Andrea is following this thread.

I've been using plasma5 git packages from aur, mostly by arojas. Once in a week i compile them all and install them.
Since yesterday's build, dolphin, gwenview etc doesn't run. It complains about libKF5BalooFiles.so which is no longer provided by baloo-git.
dolphin: error while loading shared libraries: libKF5BalooFiles.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
There is a bug report on bugs.kde.org https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=340105
they say that it is a packaging bug.
Searching inside the build directory of baloo-git doesn't return anything
$find baloo-git -name libKF5BalooFiles.so
Any ideas on this?

If there's a soname bump, you need to rebuild all packages that link to that library. When using packages from the official repos, this is done for you. When using packages from the AUR, you are responsible for figuring out what packages need rebuilt and doing the rebuild.
Online
Kcm_touchpad is not working in kde5, even the framework branch.
It says something about a shared lib, but cant figure out what is.
Any solution?

"it says something about a shared lib" doesn't really give us anything to go on.

Thanks. I was rebuilding all packages, but i guess order of installing is important as well.
Problem solved.

I know that, if I had any clue... I also tried to strace, but nothing conclusive.
If anyone want to try it...

Hello,
today I also installed plasma-next, and of course run into some issues...
1. No skype sys tray icon(there are other, but skype is more inportant). OpenSuse recommend to install sni-qt, but sni-qt depends on qt-ubuntu, which fails to compile on my computer. Also, I'm not sure if I need the lib32 version, which I don't know how to compile
2. Kmix is not automatically started and there is no sys tray icon for it. Adding it on autostart can solve the problem, but it is not minimized.
If someone know how to address the following issues, I will be glad to hear.
Except this, plasma next is really fast and I like it.
Hi!
I installed kmix-git today. Autostart and Systray icon working again.

That's the KDE4 version. The frameworks git version works correctly in Plasma 5.

many thanks, i haven't noticed for that version on aur, so I was trying to mod a old PKGBUILD, I gues the only probelm was this line "-DKDE_INSTALL_USE_QT_SYS_PATHS=ON"
It's working now, Thanks again

Hello,
I managed to fix kmix not appearing in system tray, by reinstalling the package.
Now I ran into another problem. I can't set up the output for hdmi port. In KDE 4.14 I had the corresponding option in Display & Monitors, but now here are the Desktop Effects settings.
How do you set screen resolutions in plasma next?

How does one input unicode characters into qt5 programs? It's not ctrl+shift+u...

Yes, for kde and gtk too.

Switch to oxygen. The breeze windeco is unstable and causes crashes.
