Re: November 2014 Screenshot thread

Second Arch install, the first one just refused to boot one day, so everything finally got re-installed the right way.

I used to be on elementary-os (as half of my hard-drive still indicates...),and I'm still trying to keep my desktop as clean as possible; but I haven't booted e-os up in months.

In any case, screenshots as promised:

The panel is an image, and the "exposed" parts have been filled with an ever-so-faint hatch to indicate that it's over an application's taskbar.

This is my desktop.

It hasn't changed a lot since my last post here a couple of months back, but the background image is new. I made it with gimp smile

link to background image without anything on it in case anyone wants that.

I can't really read the conky, but hey I like your domain openess.se sounds cool!

heh. I got that same conky comment last time. It was easier against my last wallpaper, but I hardly ever looked at it so it hasn't really bothered me since the wallpaper switch. The bars are still easily visible, and that means I can estimate battery level at a glance, most of the other stuff could be removed, thanks for the reminder.

The domain is an old, by now very old, screenname. It has nothing to do with openness which is what most people guess, but I am still as a general rule for that.

Re: November 2014 Screenshot thread

Hello guys!

I'm a new Arch user. Just installed most of what I want I think. But I explore and install new tools/programs every day.
Today I installed screenfetch and scrot smile

Now I will try to post my shots correctly :

As you might guess, I love arch from the first day on. After I got i3 installed and blender running I had to make this wallpaper.
Hope you like it!

Cheers

Re: November 2014 Screenshot thread

Not sure how I'm liking XFCE4. I really miss my old compiz standalone setup, but seeing how that project is abandoned, I'd rather go with something that'll continue to be updated. I also haven't found a GTK2 or GTK3 theme that play well with XFCE4's many panel applets (they all like to maintain being grey even though the theme has changed, and I have restarted the panel)

Re: November 2014 Screenshot thread

Xaero,
I don't want to derail this topic, but you might look into Openbox.  It would be my choice to replace compiz.
