The difference

When 0.6 is released will I need to reinstall Al? Or would an up to date 0.5 essentially be 0.6?

An up to date 0.5 is exactly 0.6.

Install arch 0.5 and run pacman -Su and presto, 0.6.

Actually, it's not quite that easy because there are some "ugly" upgrades, but the intent is the same.

Re: The difference

Try doing the network install if you have access to a fast pipe at install time. If you can get the network interface running, the rest is fairly easy. I did my last 3 installs this way and it was a lot less trouble than installing 0.5 and then doing the "ugly" upgrades.
