The wmsystray in the AUR doesn't work anymore. But I found another link:
http://distro.ibiblio.org/amigolinux/do … .1.tar.bz2
I used this with the AUR-package but I get this if I launch it:
segmentation fault (core dumped) wmsystray

Use the "wmsystemtray" from aur rather than "wmsystray". It worked much better for me. I think wmsystray is an older incarnation of the same program.

I ended up using stalonetray. Very much prettier than wmsystemtray. Converted in a bash script and made it start on boot.
#!/usr/bin/env bash
#/usr/bin/stalonetray --icon-size=24 --geometry=1x1+1340-34 --dockapp-mode=simple --grow-gravity=SE --sticky=true --window-layer=top &
/usr/bin/stalonetray --icon-size=24 --geometry=1x1-1245-4 --dockapp-mode=simple --grow-gravity=SE --sticky=true --window-layer=top &
The first one places it in the bottom right corner above my panel. The second one above the Virtual desktop switcher. Any added icons expand it to the left.

Hi,
I've also switched to 5.2 and was able to resolve all my -minor- issues. However, I ran into an issue with steam.
I can set a starter in the docker/icon bar and start all needed programs per starter (dolphin, kontact, teamspeak, konsole, firefox, calibre) except - steam.
The starter doesn't do anything, the startmenu entry doesn't do anything and the desktop shortcut doesn't do anything. Installing and reinstalling doesn't help either.
Starting konsole and running steam per commandline works though. So steam seems not to be the problem - itself -.
Have others had this bug? Any ideas?
Ty
I am running Steam in Plasma and I have start menu items for all the games in All Applications > Games as well as I can get the system to add an icon to the launcher bar for when the app "is not running". Are you running a base install? Did you install the complete plasma or plasma-meta package?

Hi! I got problems with desktop transparency when enabling the opengl compositor...With XRender everything works fine. Check the following screenshots.
(My graphics card is intel HD3000,and with KDE4 everything worked perfect)
XRender
GLX
Bwt other effects works.Do you have any similar problems?

You're right stathisq. I also have Intel HD 3000 Graphics, and I notice the same thing. The weird thing is that at KDE's site the "default" Plasma screenshots show Plasma without a transparent bar (https://www.kde.org/announcements/plasm … screen.png). So I think that the intended result is the OpenGL one.
By the way, if you notice very carefully, you will see that the bar is already trasnparent at OpenGL (just a little). I don't know if it can be adjusted from somewhere.

Same here plus with switching to XRender I get nasty menu and tooltips transparency:

Hi Guys!, can someone help me?
I've installed the last version with pacman, but i'm having huge issues with the appearance of some elements. In fact all the (i think) "plasma" items looks really really bad.
They look all pixelated (a lot) and also several items are not working properly. Screens:
I've also tried deleting several folders. Can someone help me?
Also the window decoration is really small.
The machine is a laptop with native resolution of 3200××1800 but right now i'm using it at 1920×1080 (it's giving the same issue at all resolution and even with an other external monitor.)
I think it's something silly but i haven't yet figured out how to fix this.

kdebase-dolphin
Learn how to pacman -Ss stuff. If you mean kf5 dolphin then from AUR.

How can I add icons or apps (like Dropbox)? If I start stalonetray with your script, the little window is empty and has a grey background.
Dropbox is running, but I can't see the icon in stalonetray or in the "new" systray of Plasma 5.
Thank you.

Have you tried looking at DPI settings? On my laptop's monitor it looks so pixelated after the start but then it rescales the icons and they turn smooth. Maybe it's detecting your screen's DPI incorrectly?
If you mean kf5 dolphin then from AUR.
Any visible changes in appearance/functionality on that one?

I've tried changing the font dpi setting but nothing changed.
The command:
xdpyinfo | grep dots
reports:
resolution: 96x96 dots per inch
I don't know if there are any other configurations to do, i havent' found any.

@oltreseba: You could try to reset at default every possible appearance settings at System Settings panel. But first check the DPI settings at System Settings > Fonts.

Right now since it was working really BAD, i've uninstalled plasma and restored the kdeworkspace base. Now still i've application like: kate, konsole e gwenview that are working really bad.
How should i do to change settings related with plasma-next applications? also l'ive tried changing DPI settings in systemsettings (for kde4) but it didn't changed anything.

I haven't noticed. I was forced to revert to distro packages though. I will recompile plasma-git tomorrow on Arch prepared just to do that.

Hi guys. I finally found out the reason that i hadn't transparent panels, Just go the the desktop effects session and uncheck the "background contrast" option,
One more question, has anyone managed to make dropbox tray icon to appear to system tray?
Offline
If anyone's interested... regarding keyboard shortcuts not working, and not being able to change them.
Have created a patch here: https://github.com/maxrd2/kxmlgui/commi … 499346b9d5
If you want to try it:
$ yaourt -S aur/kxmlgui-git
and then edit PKGBUILD and change source line from source=('git://anongit.kde.org/kxmlgui.git') to:
source=('git+https://github.com/maxrd2/kxmlgui.git')

It should work with stalontray or wmsystemtray, but for me it doesn't work. Both trays are empty, thats why I can't see the DropBox icon.
Please see my comment (test with stalonetray):

Hello, my name is Veaceslav and I'm a KDE developer(digiKam)
We are now working on KF5 port for digiKam on frameworks branch:
ArchLinux is giving us some troubles when compiling and installing with cmake:
first:
KDE recommend to port KStandardDirs to QStandardDirs.. unfortunately Archlinux do not have /usr/share/apps in XDG_DATA_DIRS and start-up fails with errors from not being able to locate shared files.
the second:
cmake variable from KDEInstallDir ${PLUGINS_INSTALL_DIR} points to /usr/lib/plugins while ArchLinux store it to /usr/lib/qt/plugins and digikam can't locate kioslaves.
To whom I must report this problems?
Thank you

The likely best option would be to add a report to https://bugs.archlinux.org/ and a developer will likely comment/reply on the bug report once generated. Not all developers monitor this forum, but they are all aware of the bugs on flyspray. It is possible that there may be some issue with the way that you are running the compile, so other users may well ask for details and reply here as well.
There is an old arch thread concerning the variable you mention at https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=142545 but I don't know if that applies currently.
Also this bug report may be relevant too https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/35197

Isn't /usr/share/apps KDE4 specific? I thought KF5 apps were supposed to install everything in the standard /usr/share/ path.
cmake variable from KDEInstallDir ${PLUGINS_INSTALL_DIR} points to /usr/lib/plugins while ArchLinux store it to /usr/lib/qt/plugins and digikam can't locate kioslaves.
You need to use the -DKDE_INSTALL_USE_QT_SYS_PATHS=ON cmake flag, see the digikam-frameworks-git PKGBUILD in AUR.

Thank you very much the XDG_DATA was my mistake, it works without /usr/share/apps and cmake flag solved other issues

I do not use Dropbox myself, but with libappindicator-*, lib32-libappindicator, sni-qt and lib32-sni-qt the "new" systray of Plasma 5 should display all icons of GTK2, GTK3, Qt4 and Qt5 applications (32-bit and 64-bit).
