i'm using hplip + cups with my deskjet 930C via usb and it always worked fine, but after the last upgrade i can't print anymore.
the HP Device Manager tells me that the device is powered down or unplugged (code 5002).
i have tried reinstalling the printer, but that doesn't help. i have a feeling it has something to do with libusb or something.
any idea's ??

usb printers need to be reinstalled because of change to libusb, it was mentionied while installing.

thks tpowa.
yes, i saw that also. but does it mean to remove the printer and reinstall, because i already tried that. or is there another way ??
Offline
the adress changes from usb/lp0 to a SERIAL=XXXXXX so just remove the printer and readd it then it should work again

thks.
tried it, but no succes. same messages as before.
the strange thing is, that it also doesn't work anymore with only gnome-cups-manager installed (without hplip).
i'm wondering if it has something to do with the latest
udev/mkinitrd/kernel upgrade...

Hi!
I'm experiencing a similar problem since the update to hplip 0.9.9 (I've got a deskjet 940c which worked fine until then).
The following is the syslog output:

I had to downgrade to 0.9.8-4 to make printing work again. Removing and readding the printer (several times) didn't work either.

today i removed the usb-cable and connected the printer via the parallel port.
now it works fine.

I'm having the same trouble with my 940C. I raised a bug report, but tbh it doesn't seem to be the Arch package that's at fault. I've posted it on the hplip forum - it's not very active, but if anything comes back, I'll post it here.
I also found a thread in Gentoo's forum called [SOLVED] printing worked yesterday, now doesn't after update - sounds promising, until you read it. It's [SOLVED] by downgrading to 0.9.8 - they've masked 0.9.9 for the moment, which I gather is Gentoo-speak for IgnorePkg.

ok forced downgrade now, if i try again to update i'll put it to testing first and invite you to test it from there;)

Problem still exists with hplip 0.9.10 in testing.

ok thanks for the report, i'll let it stay a bit in testing perhaps it changes soon, who knows.
feel free to add hplip to IgnorePkg

Why did you guys completely get rid of HPIJS and HPOJ? I've had nothing but problems with HPLIP and months later have yet to actually get my printer to print anything. I think a smarter approach would be to leave options. If people didn't want to deal with HPLIP, at least give them the opportunity to use HPIJS without having to package it on their own.

Post a feature request.

OK I have picked this up a year later and am facing the same problem. I know from talking with developers at hplip that it will not work with my scanner and I have to use HPIJS / HPOJ. There is source available, but will not compile. Was this ever resolved? I won't hold my breath for a reply, but I thought that I would start my quest by posting here. I have posted a feature request.
