why not vim + gtk2 ?
arch's current vim is compiled with gtk1 support
it would be nice to see vim with gtk2 support

You can build it yourself (which is what I did) using abs and makepkg. Here is the link to the PKGBUILD I posted:

is it in any way beta? Or is it just something that wasn't converted? I htink it's safe to say that you should submit a bug report to have it changed.
