Transmission not respecting speed limits

Hi,

whenever I try to limit the download speed of Transmission, it fails to respect it.

It seems it's downloading the maximum it can.

On the Transmission GUI I see that it respects the limit, for e.g. if I set  a 30kB/s limit I see the download speed around this limit (going from 25 to 35)

However, if I look at the system monitor I see that the receiving data is at the max that my (not so good) wifi connection can get, i.e, 250 kB/s.
(even not looking at the system monitor, the screams from my roomates are a good enough indication that I'm downloading more than  I want to...)

Any idea of what's going on ?

Re: Transmission not respecting speed limits

I recall a few bugs of Transmission not respecting limits. Have you done some research on those?

Re: Transmission not respecting speed limits

If you have uTP enabled try disabling it, I remember that when the support for uTP was introduced and it was enabled, transmission wasn't respecting the limits here. Lately it seems to have been working fine for me though.

One thing you have to take into account is the protocols overhead, you will send/receive a bit more data than the speed reported by transmission.
