PHP installed with Apache, php pages showing nothing [SOLVED]

I've followed a couple of guides to install a LAMP stack on my Arch install, and I seem to have done everything correctly (no errors anyway...), but I still can't see anything on my basic phpinfo page.

Viewing source shows nothing.

Is there anything commonly missed out I should be looking for, in order to get it showing properly?

If there's any more specific information I can give, please let me know. I'm new to these forums and realise I'm lacking detail, but any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Which ones? Why didn't you use the Arch wiki guide? Everything you need should be there. This is far too vague to really help with troubleshooting.

What's the document root? Is the test.php in there? What happens whens you go to test.php? What do you mean you can't see anything? The easiest way to get help is to be as precise as possible.

Apologies, I knew that was too sparse.

I did follow the Arch Wiki, but also read a couple of others, all of which said the same things really.

I changed the /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf to use mod_mpm_prefork as I was getting errors after I tried to load the php5 module. html pages load with no problems, in the document root of /srv/http/, and that's where my info.php (equivalent of test.php) is too. It can obviously see that file, as I get no errors when I visit localhost/info.php, but when I attempt to view the source of the page there's nothing there at all.

These are the lines I added to the bottom of my httpd.conf

LoadModule php5_module modules/libphp5.so
AddHandler php5-script php
Include conf/extra/php5_module.conf

When I load localhost/info.php, the page is completely blank.

As far as I can tell - and I am new to this level of configuration - it's loading the php5 module, but doesn't seem to work. It's not giving me a 404 page, which I get if I try an non-existent php page.

Also, those lines should be added to their respective locations. At the end of the module list and at the end of the includes. I'm not sure if this is enough to cause the error, but you should move them anyway. They shouldn't just be appended to httpd.conf

Okay, post the httpd.conf. Did you change anything in php.ini?

Also, your system is up to date and everything, correct? Is there anything in your error logs, usually /var/log/httpd/error_log?

Permissions issue? What's the output of

I don't know how you created the info.php file, but only root has permission to read the file. Change the permissions of the file like so:

chmod 644 info.php

You should be able to see the phpinfo now.

What are you trying to do? Apache is set up by default to serve files from a public_html folder in each user's home directory. So, create that folder and you can experiment with what you want in there. Then navigate to http://localhost/~USERNAME/

This is what I do when messing around with web development. But I am just a hobbyist. If you are doing something more advanced, you should read up on Apache security and learn about directory/file permissions best practices/etc. The way you phrased your question--"Somehow change permissions"--leads me to believe that you should read up on users & groups and permissions in general before doing anything.
