Hi,
I just installed Arch on an old machine: Intel Xeon 2.8GHz. It works for Ubuntu and other Linux flavour. However, after installing Arch two times last night I can't get the installation to start.
It boots into GRUB where I can see my selection menu. But after selection either choice, the machine restart immediately and loop into that cycle forever. Nothing is displayed, no message was posted.
What is going on?
Your help is greatly appreciated.
Machine only have 1 OS, 2 partition, / partition and swap using the whole hdd. Nothing special.

I am in no way an expert in this, but is the kernel even loaded ?

Did you follow the beginner's guide closely? You can try editing the boot selection (usually by pressing 'e'). If you see the 'quiet' parameter, you can remove that and see if you receive any error messages.
EDIT: also, when you edit the boot selections, you should compare what you see with what you should expect to see. If you are able to copy everything you see (or chroot in and copy from there) and post that here we can offer more help.

Did you select the correct root device ? Are you using device names or UUIDs ?
There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !

I don't think anything got loaded. The machine restarts immediately the second it select the boot.

Yes, I did. I installed twice before posting here. Also, I have sucessfully installed Arch many times before on other machine in Virtualbox environment (not that I think it makes a different, but I could be wrong).
I will try without the quite parameter and let you know.

I assumed so. I followed the guide and checked fstab afterward and verified that the correct device was selected. I use UUID.

Look for the UUID in the GRUB config file and check if it matches the UUID of your device. You can also post grub.cfg and "$ lsblk -o +UUID" here.

Thanks guys. I checked the UUID and it was different from the GRUB config file. Why is that the case? I never encounter this on a Virtualbox machine?
Arch loads and runs now.
Again, thanks for your help and input!
