I'm running an HP-425. Quite old, but still rocks with some modifications on my own:
Processor is an AMD P650, with a Kingston 120GB SSD inside (still have to get a 240 one).
I'm still trying to renew my cooling system on it to have it run silent and cold.
RAM 8GB (from 2)
Hopefully I'll upgrade from the default Broadcom BCM2070 to an Intel 3xxx wireless adapter.
Arch runs beautiful and without any hiccups (other than with steam draining constantly up to 10% when on background on both cores...)

MSI GS60 2PC Ghost, dual boot UEFI , optimus+primus running GTX860M no problems , didnt test the HDMI though but I dont need it..

Dell Latitude E6540. Been using it for a few months now and I haven't come across something that didn't work yet. Wifi, BT even the volume and brightness buttons.

Does the mic/speacker input/output work?
If the discrete AMD card is disabled (only intel HD4600 with its driver is active) is it possible to use an external monitor via VGA and/or HDMI?
What is the state of the AMD open source driver? Do you use it or the propietary one? In any case is it possible to activate and deactivate the discrete card without restarting the pc?
Is the expresscard slot fully recognised?

I just got a new razer blade 2015 and installed arch linux. I thought I could give an update on this here.

Eveything seemed to be working fine with linux kernel 3.19.2, except for the two finger tap and two finger scroll.
The lidswitch is still iffy so have ignored it in logind.conf

Running with linux-ck (3.19.3) seemed to cause kernel panic on restart or poweroff. (with or without using bfq)

currently using kernel 4.0rc6
the touchpad seems to be working well with two finger scroll and two finger tap.

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E325. The Edge series is a cheaper version of thinkpads, and they also look a little different. The main feature, the keyboard and the nipple are there though. I like the laptop very much but can't really recommend it because it comes with Broadcom's BCM43224 wifi chip. The free brcmsmac driver works, but it's slow. the proprietary wl driver is a little bit better, but not much. And of course it's not free, which may or may not matter to you. I'd prefer free software.

I'm glad we can unsubscribe when we post replies, but why was the thread about workarounds needed to get the Razer Blade laptops working with Arch merged with the all laptops thread? Now all the previous information is mixed in with unrelated posts, and of course I have no interest in my subscription being carried over to a new thread.

Budget laptop. Cheapest what i found from store what was not used.
Required little tweeking:

- Broadcom Wi-Fi card required AUR driver(broadcom-wl) later with system update had to be changed to dkms

- Clickpad had to be configured manualy and didn't work with clickpad drivers

- Screen brightness had to be fixed

- Suspend needed some tweeking.

Only thing i didn't get to work is bluetooth what i don't really use anyways but i resume to that later.

Lenovo G50-70 which comes in cheap flavours with mobile pentiums and up to i7 with discrete gpus (mine is one with i3-4005u).

What works out of the box:

- literally everything (tested each part)

I was really suprised when after standard fresh Arch installation with Gnome two weeks ago the only additional package I had to install was touchpad synaptics (no tweaking needed though).

It has pretty mediocre screen, but overall it's a solid, well crafted machine with perfect Linux support - I highly recommend it if you are on the budget.

ASUS VivoBook S400CA.

Everything works well, including Touchscreen on Gnome Shell, which is amazing, but some configuration is needed and implementation of some features, especially gestures and such, obviously differs greatly from Windows.

ideapad u310 i7 3gen qm with small ssd and 500gb hdd (thou wireless card is quite weak). installed current release: 2015.04.01. bought it cheap on ebay for my gf. her first ever Linux system (not a computer person). with Gnome 3 works like a charm (google-chrome were dodgy, replaced with chromium; photoshop with Gimp, GEM (pure data) and Openmovie; openoffice, skype and stuff ). no dual boot needed. goodbye msw. even introduced her to pacman (her new archie favorite). planning on buying used rme babyface for proper sound and DJing with Mixxx. very smooth and dynamic laptop.

big massive up to Arch developers and community.

My laptop:             Toshiba NB500 Netbook

Another laptop:     IBM (yes, IBM) ThinkPad.
Not sure of the model; it's a brick with a Pentium at 2.4gHz.

Everything works out of the box pretty much, even though I've been through several wireless cards on the Toshiba.

Got it working absolutely great on a Thinkpad X240 (4th Gen i7 4600U, 8 GB RAM, Intel 4400 HD Graphics and 1 TB SSHD). Wifi is intel 7260, supported out of the box by iwlwifi driver. Hardware wise, I didn't had any issues. Had to tune up few services a bit and not I have a system that boots straight to Gnome 3 desktop in not more than 6 seconds. Usually, its 4 seconds. Standby and Hibernate also work perfectly.

I am big fan of KDE and I haven't found any graphical glitches while using Plasma 5 (kde-unstable). Very much satisfied with this  22.5K INR (~$350) Laptop. Great thing is, I don't really need proprietary drivers to run games, Radeonsi is working great. Atleast I can play all my favorite games like Torchlight2, TF2 and WoW WoTLK out of box.

comment: does work a bit after MUCH meddling:
nVidia doesn't find correct EDID for monitor which has to be overriden manually
WiFi works sometimes, mostly not - if: very unstable
typical optimus issues; eg. low performance
on Windows there's additionally a nasty bug with the Soundcard that gives you low performance.

Everything but the WiFi and Bluetooth work well. The latter I haven't tried to get working, but the former was a pretty big issue which I just managed to solve.

I had to install the broadcom-wl-dkms package from the archlinuxgr repos (couldn't get the one from the AUR to work). However, this resulted in kernel the moment I connected via Wi-Fi, so after much fiddling I managed to solve it by disabling netcl and using NetworkManager instead.

While the solution itself was pretty simple it took me a long time to finally find it.

Multiboot with windows 8.1, Fedora, debian, Gentoo, and Arch Linux in UEFI/GPT mode.

Other than the Radeon graphics, everything works fine.  AMD is slow to upgrade the proprietary drivers.

In hindsight, I should have gotten something with nVidia or Intel graphics.

I have an Asus G750JW that I am trying to fix some issues I am having, but over all it runs it well.

Specs:
CPU i7-4700HQ @ 2.40 GHz
Geforce 765m w/ Nvidia Optimus
Replaced the azurewave wifi with an Intel 7260 ac
8gb of ram added 6gm from my old laptop.

I am having issues with the Elantech trackpad, but someone more experienced would probably have it fixed already.

I have a Dell E1505. I upgraded my wireless card from Broadcom to Intel 4965AGN. I replaced my keyboard. Everything is working well. Arch Linux is the best!

I have an HP compaq 6720s. There are no issues with the installation whatsoever, everything worked out of the box.
StarCraft 1, Age of Empires 2 and Atomic Bomberman under wine are more playable(less laggy) than on windows vista on the same laptop.
I'm very happy with my arch installation

HP ZBook 14

Everything works except: I cant connect to my external Monitor via HDMI. VGA works but with very low resolution. I use xrandr.

The ZBook has two graphic cards, an Intel 5500 Broadwell and an ATI Radeon Opal Pro R7 M260. My understanding is that I have to use the ATI card somehow. So I intsalled xf86-video-ati, but nothing changed for the better in this regard. As my experience is that tinkering with graphic card configurations is nothing for the faint of heart I'm not sure how to proceed.
