Hi all,
I'm having trouble with a fresh installation of Arch on my new laptop. It is an Asus Zenbook UX305F with an integrated Intel wireless card:
$ lspci | grep Wireless
02:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Wireless 7265 (rev 59)
I can connect to my home network fine, but it seems the connection drops about every minute for 10 or more seconds. After digging around a bit, I found this in the journal:
$ journalctl -x

I'm pretty sure the
DHCP lease expired
message pops up everytime my connection fails.
Another possibly related error that occurs in the journal every now and then:
Apr 20 19:56:17 duster kernel: iwlwifi 0000:02:00.0: No association and the time event is over already...
Apr 20 19:56:17 duster kernel: wlp2s0: Connection to AP 00:1e:e5:6d:83:6f lost
Apr 20 19:56:17 duster kernel: cfg80211: Calling CRDA to update world regulatory domain
Some other facts that might be useful:
No other device on the network are not affected (some also running Arch)
I have installed arch once before on this box, but due to some other problems I decided to reinstall. On this first install I had no observable problems with the wifi
I have tried adding the /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf file as per the wiki (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AS … UX305#Wifi), but this did not help.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

it might be helpful to mention what you use to connect with. did you mention that? im not seeing it. what application do you use to cponfigure your connections with? are you using netctl, or do you have wicd, or what?

Very true, I did not mention that.
I just use wifi-menu to connect (which I'm pretty sure uses netctl?). The network is WPA2 enctrypted, so I also have wpa_supplicant installed which will probably be used by wifi-menu.

Sadly, that looks fine. I was checking to see if you had multiple services wrestling for control of the wireless. I don't see that situation.

i have to leave for the day, will look back into this tomorrow, but i wanted to mention, since you mentioned manual wpa_supplicant, i have had SOOOO many problems with this, once i went to WICD, i never went back. it might be worth a try for you, because for wireles connections, it was the only one i was able to consistently get to stay working (for more than a year), without reconfiguring.

@wolfdogg: Thanks for the tip. Personally, I've had some bad experiences in the past with wicd, switched to netctl/wifi-menu some time ago and never really had problems until now (with multiple arch installs in between). As I mentioned, it has even worken on this box before, so I'm more inclined to attribute this failure to a human error during the install process than to netctl . And in any case, I always like to get to the bottom of these problems and figure out exactly whats wrong.

Thank you Head_on_a_Stick! That seems to have done the trick, I've not had any issues since disabling the power management (almost 1 day now). Great!
