Why the version in the official repo is the old 2.5 instead of the latest 2.6? I use 2.6 on Fedora almost every day - it is quite stable.

EDIT: The packages are flagged out of date since March which is strange actually. I'm not sure what the problem with them is.

4 months later - and nothing on the official front. While avidemux 2.6 from AUR works just fine.

For a long time, avidemux 2.6 simply wouldn't work. If it's working now, you can try contacting the maintainer.

avidemux-qt5-git from AUR is working fine

none of those new versions in the AUR have the toolbar buttons or the calculator....it's a little irritating It seems as though we are now having them forced upon us because last week's update of x264, libx264, and ffmpeg are incompatible with the official version. Also, I really wish developers would stop abandoning gtk.
If you can't be helpful, don't say anything at all. Fair enough?

I know this is kind of an old topic now but it's still an ongoing issue.
Did you ever hear anything back from the Avidemux maintainer?

Please don't necrobump.
It's (probably) not relevant now, but back when this topic was created, 2.6 was still listed as experimental on the avidemux wiki, that's probably the response anyone got from Eric at the time.
