sasosito: use this freedesktop (put it in your ~/.config/awesome/ ): http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?fi … 2471981730 (little modified by me. I made it works for me but I have no idea how it will work for you)
and add to something like this your rc.lua:
--FreeDesktop
local freedesktop = require('freedesktop')
freedesktop.utils.icon_theme = 'breeze'
-- applications menu
freedesktop.utils.terminal = terminal -- default: "xterm"
menu_items = freedesktop.menu.new()
myawesomemenu = {
{ "manual", terminal .. " -e man awesome", freedesktop.utils.lookup_icon({ icon = 'help-about' }) },
{ "edit config", editor_cmd .. " " .. awful.util.getdir("config") .. "/rc.lua", freedesktop.utils.lookup_icon({ icon = 'preferences-desktop' }) },
{ "restart", awesome.restart, freedesktop.utils.lookup_icon({ icon = 'system-reboot' }) },
{ "quit", awesome.quit, freedesktop.utils.lookup_icon({ icon = 'application-exit' }) }
}
table.insert(menu_items, { "awesome", myawesomemenu, beautiful.awesome_icon })
table.insert(menu_items, { "shoutdown", function() awful.util.spawn_with_shell("oblogout") end, freedesktop.utils.lookup_icon({icon = 'system-shutdown'}) })
table.insert(menu_items, { "open terminal", terminal, freedesktop.utils.lookup_icon({icon = 'utilities-terminal'}) })
mymainmenu = awful.menu({ items = menu_items })
mylauncher = awful.widget.launcher({ image = beautiful.awesome_icon, menu = mymainmenu })
-- desktop icons
freedesktop.desktop.config.computer = false -- to disabble computer icon
freedesktop.desktop.config.home = false -- to disabble home icon
freedesktop.desktop.config.network = false -- to disabble network icon
freedesktop.desktop.config.trash = false -- to disabble trash icon
for s = 1, screen.count() do
freedesktop.desktop.add_desktop_icons({dir = '~/Pulpit/', screen = s, showlabels = true,
open_with = 'dolphin' })
end
mylauncher = awful.widget.launcher({ image = beautiful.awesome_icon,
menu = mymainmenu })
You probably will have to change icon names and theme

My new desktop! I tried elementary Freya for a month or so, mainly because pantheon DE (gala in particular shocks me), but I missed Arch + awesome.
Terminus font for all, solarized colors with "custom" background (#211d21). Layout icons are from powerarrow-darker, copycats, but made my own for uselessfair. Awesompd for mpd and a nice Wallpaper hahaha
I tried to put icons in the menu, but I couldn't, and when I find out how to make wibox use a png file as background will be back tweaking hahaha
Gtk: Greybird
Icons: Moka

This is what my knowledge of lua and awesome have brought me too ... trying to learn new things or ways of writing nicer awesome wm themes ... any thoughts from folks of good places to learn better coding to spice up my wm?

This time, I wrote a more complex theme. This is to fight back against flat design I grew tired of. Lots of shadow, gradients and 3D effects. Code link in my signature
hey Elv13 I am having issues setting up arrow themes gotta say they look nice on yours but I cannot get theme to work after cloning your repo into .config/awesome/blind
is there something else i have to do besides of course calling the themeSciFiGrad.lua in my rc.lua?

Last changes, "trickiest" thing is taglist. Set empty foreground to same colour as wibox, so if tag is empty, it is invisible. Still want to make some things, but for now it may remain like this. Terminus font, molokai color scheme.

Sorry, I totally forgot about this thread. The theme work if you clone my config. It use the "Radical" module for most widgets, so it doesn't work with the vanilla tasklist and taglist,

Check out mine https://github.com/ThePinkPanther/MinimalAwesome. A very elegant and minimalistic config. Easily changed throug settings.lua file.

Reunited with arch and awesome and it feels so good
Just used some old config I had backed up, pretty sure I stole most of it from somebody here.

What are you refering exactly? For the bash profile (I'm not sure if it is called like this) I used this page, and the color scheme is linked on my post I'm glad you like it

yea it was the color theme i was refering too ... i write some gtk themes and am in process of making awesome / terminal color schemes to match the ones i had created ... It's one of the few places I can give back to the community with my skill set so I am always happy to look at themes and usually comment on them cause I know how much goes into making em

@VanillaFunk, I tried your themes, way too dark for me, but some cool themes though
