Dear,
I heavily suffer with a problem regarding my webserver:
As usual I work there with two directories - ".../.../htdocs/" containing "index.html" & others and ".../.../cgi/bin/" containing the cgi-scripts.
The problem:
I can correctly open the "index.html" with a browser and I get prompted for a login due to .htaccess.
When selecting one of the links that point to a corresponding script in the ".../.../cgi-bin" I get the error screen saying "Assess forbidden!" 403
I have tried a lot of things already. However I seem to be unable to solve the problem.
Actually I suspect that one if the entries in the "httpd.conf" is wrong or missing. What I wonder is the fact, that htacces works correctly in ".../.../htdocs" but not in ".../.../cgi-bin".
I of course verified that the file ".htaccess" is present in both directories.
Any hint is welcome - thank you

Found it - at last!
Reason was an insufficient relative path at the link-href in the /htdocs/-html-files.
I have no clue, why this creates a "forbidden" message instead of a "not found".
