Hi there.
I've installed Arch Linux on my HP Probook by following the archwiki and this guide on lifehacker: http://lifehacker.com/5680453/build-a-k … he-process
I've been trying to get my WiFi to work but it doesn't seem to want to. If I run 'sudo wifi-menu' then it scans and shows me my router but if I select it and enter the password it says "Connection failed. Would you still like to save the profile?"
Any and all help is appreciated.
Manu.

Another interesting thing is that when I do try to connect using wifi-menu it shows two options even though I have only one connection available.

Does this mean something?

That Lifehacker guide is worse than useless, just use the official documentation and the wiki wireless page.
Moving to NC...

I've been through the official wiki and especially the wireless page. I still can't get it to work.

"I can't get it to work" is not an error message: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=57855
Post details of your card and driver and what you have done to set it up. Check that you ony have one service managing your connection otherwise it will fail...

It turns out that I have both network-manager as well as netctl.
'sudo pacman -Rns network-manager' can't remove network manager because it's a part of the cinnamon desktop.

If your DE depends on NM, then just remove netctl...

The utterly useless, 3-year old (!) lifehacker "guide" you have linked recommends enabling "net-auto-wireless.service" (whatever that is) -- did you do this?

I think I tried doing that but I don't think it worked.
Here's the output you were asking for:

# systemctl disable dhcpcd.service
# systemctl disable netctl@wlo1\x2dNAIK.serviceThen reboot and use:
# netctl start NAIK
# netctl enable NAIK(Presuming your profile is called "NAIK")

If you're still having trouble, just disable netctl and use NetworkManager instead, as JWR suggests.

I ran the first two lines. After rebooting and running netctl start I got
[manujnaik@dhcppc2 ~]$ netctl list
wlo1-NAIK.wifi-menu
wlo1-NAIK
[manujnaik@dhcppc2 ~]$ netctl start wlo1-NAIK
Job for netctl@wlo1\x2dNAIK.service failed. See "systemctl status 'netctl@wlo1\x2dNAIK.service'" and "journalctl -xe" for details.Any ideas?

I started the NetworkManager service using systemctl and everything started working properly after I rebooted. Thanks for all your help ![]()

I'm glad you got it working but for future reference:
Job for netctl@wlo1\x2dNAIK.service failed. See "systemctl status 'netctl@wlo1\x2dNAIK.service'" and "journalctl -xe" for details.
Always a good idea to do what is suggested...
systemctl status 'netctl@wlo1\x2dNAIK.service'
journalctl -xeToo late now, of course, but it would have been nice to know.
