I'm using an old acer aspire 3002CLI laptop and Arch 4.0.7-2
I'm using the b43 driver and the firmware version is 784.2
Almost everything works as it should, I can connect to my router and download stuff from the internet...at the amazing speed of ~2.5 kb/s
I also tried an ad-hoc network between the laptop and a PC (has a wlan card) - trying to move files from the PC to the laptop via ftp works at the same rate of ~2kb/s.
I can connect to the same PC ftp server with my android tablet and download stuff at 10s of mbits per second. So there's something definitely wrong with the wifi system on the laptop.
Interestingly enough, iw dev wlan0 link says
signal: -50 dbm
tx bitrate: 54.0 Mbit/s
so apparently I can't blame the very slow rates on (lack of) signal strength.
Any help will be apreciated!
TIA.

I had to use the b43-firmware-classic package from the AUR on my Inspiron 1300 with the same card. Maybe that will help (went from ~14KBps to ~360KBps). Hope that helps:)
