No, this doesn't work here.

Re: KF 5 & Plasma

Newest dropbox-experimental already shows the tray icon.
I can't get cryptkeeper to show, though, libappindicator for both gtk2 and gtk3 are installed. redshift-gtk has no issues showing the icon, so the packages are working. Any idea?

Does it? It doesn't work for me in 3.8.3 regardless of what the changelog says.

I tried that workaround from the release note comment. No joy. I've got 3.8.4.

In that case I'm not moving from 3.7.37 (that's the version that works for me)

Re: KF 5 & Plasma

Just for other people having the same problem as me : screen corruption and plasmashell crashes with Intel driver were fixed by going back to UXA instead of SNA as an accel method.

To add to this, if you would like vsync re-enabled with UXA (Changing from SNA to UXA causes tearing to return for me in Plasma as UXA doesn't support the "TearFree" option in the xorg.conf), change your settings under "Display and Monitor/Compositor" to match the following:

Rendering backend: OpenGL 3.1
OpenGL interface: EGL
Tearing prevention ("vsync"): Full screen repaints

But switching to UXA 100% works, I haven't had a single segfault for days. My desktop is now perfect.

Does this count as working at 100%? I am thankful that I'm not experiencing the bug anymore, but this is just a workaround. Proper SNA support is to be desired, right?

Does anybody have an overview of why SNA support became broken a few mesa updates ago and what is needed to get it working again?

Nobody knows yet. It's being tracked at https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=86281

Hi, does spell checking working for you on kde apps like kate, kwrite, kile? I tried to found optional dependencies for them but there seems to be nothing for spell checking.  Choosing automatic spell checking has no effect and after clicking just Tools -> Spelling -> Spelling something like that happen: http://s29.postimg.org/itvxwzv6f/errrr.png. I'm using KDE Frameworks 5.12.0.

I switched to UXA a couple of weeks ago on my thinkpad with Intel i915 driver. I actually found the suggestion here, because of some issues I was having with Chromium, added to the frequent segfaults from plasma 5, but most of them being while closing the session:

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/In … nd_Firefox

At first it seemed to have worked fine, since I didn't see the Chromium issues anymore, and didn't have any segfaults for a couple of reboots. But now, it's the same. EVERY time I reboot or close the plasma session, it ends on a segfault for me,  even using UXA. At least chromium works fine now smile

is it possible to get the "extract archive here" option in right click menu with the new dolphin and ark (from [unstable])? I can't seem to find how to enable it, it seems there are no ark related services anymore...

Re: KF 5 & Plasma

Anyone noticed slower performance in kwin with nvidia driver? Seems like animations are loading background first then actually animating (when launched for the first time) but also feels more choppy than before.

Re: KF 5 & Plasma

Only a little question: does "muon software search" work for anyone?
I have it enabled in search settings, but searching something like "firef" (i haven't firefox installed obviously) won't bring up any result.

EDIT: i'm an idiot, that option is not related to muon. This thing cannot be done (yet?). Sorry!

Re: KF 5 & Plasma

In DOLPHIN I have natural sort selected and files are orderd as:

1,2,3,4,5.....10,11,12,13......100,101 etc

In GWENVIEW (and PHOTOTONIC) there is no option to select natural sort and my image files are sorted as:

1,10,100,101...109,11,110,111...119,12,120 etc

Is there a way to get the sorting the same as DOLPHIN.

Cheers

Re: KF 5 & Plasma

@kurt- the easiest way I know to make the numbering system work by default in linux is to use all of the numbering positions, ie- if the highest number you have is 120, then you would use all three positions when numbering 1, which would be 001. Krename is a wonderful tool to help with batch renumbering.

Re: KF 5 & Plasma

Following the upgrade to the new kernel, 4.1.5-1, I'm getting weird visual effects when switching applications or windows, for example. The top part of the screen seems to flash and flicker in a rather disturbing way. (It makes me feel slightly ill.)

I've got the Intel integrated graphics associated with all the recent crashes and I have not switched back to UXA. Since rebooting, I've not had a single crash (and it has been at least 10 minutes or so) but the flickering and flashing is actually worse.

Does anybody know what might be the cause? Or, alternatively, does anybody know what this kind of effect is called so that I can do a proper search for help?

Has the patch mentioned in the comment at https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=86281#c42 been applied to the current kernel in Arch? If so, that might explain the flickering...? (And maybe it will be less nausea-inducing if I think of it as a step-on-the-way-to-better-things....)

Yes it's been applied, I checked the commit history and saw the patch: https://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit … c98d7ed684

I haven't seen a single crash since updating mesa. Fortunately I don't see the flicker you mentioned, but I do have a lot of other rendering issues for a long time. It's quite frustrating because the Intel driver used to be the best a few years ago, now even the proprietary nVidia driver works more reliable than the Intel driver in my own experience.
