I unmuted the sound card's master volume using amixer, however, I am not getting any audio output.
It seems that a bug report has been filed here, https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=95731, as well as another user having the same problem here, https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=195338
Someone was able to create a fix on Debian, but I am not sure how that would translate to Arch, http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-P … -p/4980797
Some additional information. The soundcard on my device is 00:03.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation Broadwell-U Audio Controller (rev 09)
Installing pavucontrol, the only output device listed is HDMI/displayport (unplugged). Going to the playback tab, when I start a video on Youtube, there's a bar that keeps going back and forth called silence, however, there is still no audio.
Edit: There seems to be a workaround for BIOS motherboards and those using GRUB as the bootloader.
In /etc/default/grub, the line GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT should be edited to:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi_osi='!Windows 2013' acpi_osi='!Windows 2012' acpi_backlight=vendor acpi_backlight=video video.use_native_backlight=1"
Problem is for those using bootctl as part of systemd for UEFI motherboards.
Thanks for your time.
