VMware Certificate Error

When I try to check for updates in VMware 11, I get an error saying "A certificate error occurred while connecting to the update server." It didn't specify any log file to consult. The network configuration uses the system default of no proxy server.

When I try to visit the update server in firefox, https://softwareupdate.vmware.com/cds, it connects no problem.

Any ideas on how to fix this?
